What is in it
Your profile, your links and categories, your settings, and your account details, in a machine-readable file. The point is that you can move it somewhere else rather than copying your page out by hand.
Why the link expires
The download link is temporary. It contains everything on your account, so leaving it live forever would be a liability rather than a convenience. Request a new one whenever you need it.
This is a promise, not a feature
The export keeps working if you cancel, and it keeps working if Melodreams is ever sold or shut down. That is written into The Promise, so the cost of leaving never becomes a reason to stay.
